Huawei Maimang 7 was launched in September 2018 in the Chinese market and here we are a fast forward couple of months to the present and the Chinese leading smartphone manufacturer will announce the successor to it on 5th June. The company scheduled a launch event in Chengdu, China, where it would announce Huawei Maimang 8.
As per the event poster, we get to know some insights regarding the phone prior to its launch. Featuring a water-drop display the device looks quite elegant from the poster teaser. It brings a fingerprint scanner on the rear side of the device, a triple camera set up.
The device looks quite similar to Huawei P20 Pro offers a display size of 6.21 inch along with a water drop notch as shared earlier. Talking about the inside goodies, the poster didn’t reveal the SoC present though we do get to know that it would boast Huawei’s in-house GPU Turbo technology that is known to improve gaming performance.
Another interesting insight is the presence of Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9 UI layer on top of the core Android OS. The device will offer 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage capacity while the triple camera units would be 24MP and 16MP sensors in addition to 2MP AI camera sensor.

Interesting enough to see the SoC info is still shielded in some way, which normally isn't the case these days.
Anyways, the 8GB RAM is the only model available? No other variant?
