Dell has refreshed its Alienware m15 and Alienware m17 gaming laptops with a completely new design and beefed up specifications. The design is new for Alienware lineup but it was debuted with the Area-51m gaming laptop earlier this year. The only major difference is that Alienware laptops do not offer modular capabilities.
In terms of appearance, the new Alienware m15 and m17 laptops look quite similar to the Area-51m. The only giveaway is that the new laptops look relatively slimmer. It should be noted that Dell is touting them as the world's thinnest 15-inch and 17-inch gaming laptops. As for weight, they weigh about 2.1kg and 2.6kg respectively which is not surprising as they are gaming machines.
The Alienware m15 and m17 laptops come with 15-inch and 17-inch display panel respectively. The 15-inch laptop has been released in 1080p (60Hz, 144Hz, and 240Hz) and 4K (60Hz) resolution OLED panel options. The 17-inch model is available only with a 1080p panel and 60Hz/144Hz refresh rate. Some models also support Tobii eye-tracking.
Under the hood, Dell has opted for 9th Gen Intel Core processors with support for up to Core i9-9980HK processor clocked at 5.0GHz. It offers up to 16GB of RAM, up to 2TB PCIe SSD storage, and up to 4TB RAID0 storage (2 x 2TB PCIe M.2 SSDs). There are a number of connectivity options including WiFi, Bluetooth, Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI port, USB 3.1 port, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Both Dell Alienware m15 and Alienware m17 will go on sale in the United States starting June 11th. These have been priced at $1,499 for the base model.
