Finally, the wait is over as the Chinese giant Xiaomi wraps off the cover from the much-awaited flagship Mi 8. The device is in leaks and rumors from past few weeks and today finally its official now. As reported earlier the device features a full front-facing display with a notch at the top of the display.

The display is of 6.21-inches with a Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2248 pixels. The AMOLED display aspect ratio is 18.7:9 and the screen-to-body ratio is 88.5%. Xiaomi opted a notch at the top of the display to fit in the display with such high screen-to-body ratio. Xiaomi confirmed the reason behind naming the device Mi 8 is to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the company.

On the rear side, you will get dual rear cameras aligned vertically on the top left corner. The dual sensors are differentiated with dual LED flashlight. The dual rear cameras are 12MP+12MP modules with dual pixels autofocus and AI support. The AI not only enhances the final results but also brings scene detection feature. As per DxOMark ratings the Mi 8 cameras score whopping 105 points in photography which makes it the second best camera in the market after P20 Pro. It even crossed the recently announced HTC U12+ by a little margin.

Under the hood the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 SoC is powering the device. As per AnTuTu benchmark listing the device scores whopping 301,472 points. The Mi 8 not only takes lead in camera department but also powerful enough to be the best flagship smartphone on the basis of performance.

Xiaomi is quite confident regarding the Mi 8 cameras capabilities that's why they put in head-to-head competition against one of the best camera phones in the market. The device features Mi studio lightening feature to optimize camera results in low-light conditions. The company also released a number of sample photos which showcases how AI improved the results.

Up front,, you will get a selfie camera of 20MP with infrared facial recognition. The device features fingerprint scanner on the rear side in the center below the dual cameras. Both the front and rear cameras bring portrait AI mode which allows the user to blur the background and solely focusing on the subject.
