Samsung Galaxy Note 9 launched with 4000mAh battery and new S-Pen for $999

09 August 2018 7

The time has finally arrived for Samsung to officially launch the successor to its Galaxy Note 8, the Galaxy Note 9. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which has been one of the most hyped smartphones of the year has finally been launched. The sheer look and specifications of the Galaxy Note 9 make it a worthy competitor for the top spot, competing with the likes of other flagship smartphones from various other reputed companies. So, did the leaked specifications and pricing of the Galaxy Note 9 have some truth it in? Well, sit back and relax as it all marvelously unfolds!

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has a stunning 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2960x1440p. It appears that Samsung has decided to keep to the same resolution which was seen on the Galaxy Note 8. In all honesty, it’s perhaps a really good choice considering that a higher resolution would only drain the battery faster. Having the screen sized at 6.4-inches makes it the largest Galaxy Note Infinity Display. At the heart of the smartphone lies the octa-core Exynos 9810 processor or the Snapdragon 845 SoC. The CPU variant which you will get will depend upon the region you reside in. The Snapdragon variant is reserved for the U.S market while its Exynos equivalent is reserved for the International market.

The Galaxy Note 9 will be available in two memory and internal storage variants. One sporting 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage while the other being equipped with 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. It must be noted that both variants allow for storage expansion via microSD card of up to 512GB. In terms of its camera, the smartphone has a 12MP dual-camera setup with f/1.5-f/2.4 variable aperture and support for 2x optical zoom. Does this ring a bell? The camera is exactly the same as that seen on the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. The camera of the Note 9 adjusts to the light in the environment, thanks to its variable aperture. The front-facing camera is quite impressive as well and has an 8MP sensor. This time around Samsung has improved the battery life to last an entire day. This is done by equipping the smartphone with a 4,000mAh battery.

A button on the S-Pen which takes pictures for you without you having to touch the phone. It also has support for Bluetooth and some pretty good new features including pausing YouTube videos and scrolling through slides on PowerPoint. In order to show how well it works, the presentation of the S-Pen slides at the live launch was done using the S-Pen. So, how do you charge it? All you have to do it is to put it back in your smartphone. What started as a simple way of taking down notes has now evolved into a creative tool with added functionality. At the end of the day, the S-pen males the Galaxy Note a Note!

Samsung Dex offers a PC-like experience and with the Galaxy Note 9, it has been made simpler and more convenient. You can still use the smartphone screen normally even while watching a video on the PC through Samsung Dex, allowing you to do more than one thing at a time on more than one screen.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is available in following colour variants including Midnight Black, Lavender Purple, Metallic Copper with matching S Pen, and Ocean Blue with a Yellow S Pen. However, in the future, more colour variants of the device may surface. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will be available from the 24th of August and is currently priced at $999 for the 6GB/128GB variant while the 8GB/512GB variant is priced slightly higher at $1249.
