The Cupertino giant is all set to announce the next gen of iPhones, however, the chances are high the company will also showcase the next version of Apple Watch. Like all other tech events, the company recently rolled out the invites but the good thing is Apple will also live stream the event for fans across the globe.
Like all big events for sure, the Apple fans are also keen to know what Apple will showcase at the event. As the launch event isn't far away that's why we have tons of details regarding the event. The rumors mill almost reveals everything regarding what to expect at the Apple's next gathering. Let's dive into all the details regarding the Apple 2018 iPhone event.
Apple 30 Aug
Recently the company rolls out the invite for the September 12th event. The event is scheduled in Cupertino at the new Steve Jobs Theater. For the locals, the event will kick off at 10 am PT whereas for the UK viewers the event is at 6 pm.
How to watch the event live?
This year once again Apple will be live streaming the event from Apple official webpage. The Apple TV owners can watch via Apple events app. The event will continue for two hours. The iOS 10 or later running Apple devices can watch streaming on Safari browser. However, if you own MacOS machine, you should be on at least on Sierra 10.12 or later. If you own a Windows PC, you can stream on Microsoft Edge but you should be on Windows 10.
Last but not the least if you skipped the live streaming, it will be available later on the company's website as well as on iTunes.
This year all rumors indicate the Cupertino giant is going to announce three new iPhones. The entry-level variant will be a 6.1-inches device with LCD display, the second variant will be iPhone X successor with 5.8-inches OLED display and the top of the line model "iPhone X Plus" with 6.5-inches OLED display.
All the latest iPhones will have a notch display and an edge-to-edge design. The notch includes the TrueDepth selfie camera with 3D facial recognition. This year none of the iPhones will have Touch ID instead all have Face ID as a primary security option. Apple finally bringing the bezel-less design to all iPhones.
As per the recent report, internally this year's iPhones are referred as S upgrade. It's not surprising at all because for years Apple brings S models after the major upgrades. Apple introduced a new design with the iPhone 5, they introduced an upgraded model next year with S moniker. This year Apple bringing the S models but the key focus is internal upgrades rather design changes.
This year iPhones will be powered up by A12 SoC built on the 7nm process. The new SoCs certainly will bring better processing power, improved battery, and graphics performance. So far benchmark results showcase the latest A12 SoCs perform 10% better than the predecessor A11 chipset.
As far as final naming is a concern, the iPhone X successor will be announced as "iPhone Xs", the larger sibling with a 6.5-inches display will be available as "iPhone Xs Max". It seems like Apple also ditched the Plus moniker and it is pretty much understandable. So far we have seen the Plus variant brings all the latest goodies which aren't available on the regular mode but now it seems like both the OLED models have same specs and the difference will be in the display size, battery cell and price tag. It will be better to call the larger sibling as Max instead of the Plus model.
The recent rumors suggest the iPhone Xs screen resolution will remain 2,436 x 1125 pixels whereas the larger sibling resolution will be 2,688 x 1,242 pixels. Both the devices will have 4GB RAM and native storage up to 512GB. Both the models will have stainless steel chassis like the iPhone X with glass rear.
Apple is likely to introduce a new battery tech this year, the new battery will be L-shaped with 2 cells. Apart from regular Space Gray and Silver variants, the new iPhone Xs models are expected in the gold shade as well.
The cheapest amongst all will be 6.1-inches model. It will have toned down hardware specs sheet. The LCD display screen resolution will be 1,792 x 828 pixels. Unlike the iPhone Xs models, the LCD model will have an aluminum frame. There will be a single 12MP sensor on the rear side. It will have 3GB RAM and native storage up to 256GB.
At the moment it is still not confirmed but we heard rumors Apple might not bring 3D Touch feature for the LCD model. Like the last year's iPhones, this year phones will also support wireless charging. For some regions, the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max variants could have dual SIM cards.
As far as pricing is a concern the LCD model is rumored to cost around $700 whereas the iPhone X successor will have slightly lower pricing around $900 and the iPhone Xs Max model will cost $999. The good thing is Apple fans don't have to wait longer as the official launch isn't far away.
Along with the new iPhones, Apple is expected to bring new Apple Watch Series 4. One of the biggest upgrade to the new Watch series will be 15% larger display as opposed to Watch Series 3. The overall size won't be increased instead the company will reduce the bezels to fit in a larger display.
A large display will provide you with more space to better interact with the apps. A new Watch Face is expected with the Watch Series 4. At the moment it is still in the dark what will be the screen resolution of the 38mm model but we heard rumors the 42mm variant resolution will be 384 x 480 pixels.
The overall design of Apple Watch Series 4 won't be different from the predecessor. So you can expect the current gen Watch bands will be compatible with the upcoming series as well. Instead of a regular button on the side, the Watch Series 4 is rumored to have haptic feedback button. Apple usually announces new bands at the events so the chances are quite high this time as well.
Last year Apple showcases AirPower at the September event, the company stated it will be launched in 2018, however, due to development issues the company yet not announced it. As per the latest info, the company could launch it at the event with an imminent release.
The chances are high Apple fans could grab AirPower alongside the new Apple Watch and iPhones. The AirPower is the Apple's solution to charge iPhones with glass rear, Apple Watch 3 and 4 Series Watches.
Apple is rumored to bring upgraded AirPods at the upcoming event. The new AirPods will support AirPower with a new charging case and also it will have "Hey Siri" support wirelessly. In the current gen model, you have to double tap to access Siri but the upcoming AirPods will bring this feature wirelessly. The wireless charging case will be offered as an extra accessory with the new AirPods.
Back in June Apple announced the new beta version of WatchOS, MacOS, TvOS and iOS for developers. So far all the OS versions are in beta version, we can expect the company will announce the final versions at the Sep 12 event.
The iOS 12, WatchOS 5, TvOS 12, MacOS Mojave final versions will be announced and also the company will confirm the rollout plans. So far leaks suggest Apple will start rolling updates from September 19th, however, we have to wait for the official confirmation from Apple.
