Sony teaser hints at the launch of Xperia XZ4 at MWC 2019

Samsung Galaxy S10 series is coming at the Unpacked event on Feb 20, several days ahead of the MWC 2019 event. A number of companies are trying to get attention in Barcelona with their 5G-related smartphones and announcements. Now Sony has confirmed that it will unveil a new phone which is likely to be the Xperia XZ4 at the MWC 2019 event. Sony has been losing its market share over the last few years and is hoping to revive its fortunes with the new smartphone.

Sony has released a new teaser video on Twitter, which doesn’t directly mention the XZ4 but hints at a new super-tall handset that will deliver a “new perspective” for multimedia consumption. A number of rumors and leaks about the upcoming Xperia XZ4 have been making the rounds for a while now. The device is expected to come with improved cameras and will have a unique 21:9 display.

Apart from the Xperia XZ4, a number of smartphones are expected to be unveiled at the MWC 2019 event in Barcelona. According to reports, there will be other midrange handsets coming with the unusual 21:9 aspect ratio.

A number of smartphone makers are gearing up to launch 5G devices at MWC, but there are no rumors about the XZ4 or other Sony smartphone coming with 5G connectivity. The Xperia XZ4 is likely to be unveiled on February 25 in Barcelona at 8:45 CET (2:45 EST).
