    Switching to paid membership would give give YT an extra bonus if that clicks for them through this new system they are trying to incorporate.

    Of course not. I don't think. Scrapping paid membership makes no sense. Actually, garnering as many of them as possible is the aim.

    Will that give the paid members a bad taste? Just asking? They are getting the content by paying and the new system will make the content available for free.

    Free but ad-supported. It's the same for both channels.
