Sony is celebrating PlayStation 4 fifth anniversary with a new bundle

16 November 2018 2

It has been five years since Sony released PlayStation 4, the fourth iteration of world's best-selling console. To be specific, it was released on November 15th, 2013 which started off a journey where we go to see incremental upgrades in the form of the PlayStation 4 Slim and PlayStation 4 Pro. And now, Sony is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the PlayStation 4 by releasing a new bundle and sharing some interesting statistics.

Since the release, Sony has sold over 86 million PlayStation 4 units which makes it the best-selling console of its generation by miles. It has further sold 777.9 million software units. As for the DualShock 4 controller, the standard Black color variant has been the best-selling variant followed by Blue, Red, White, and Army Green. It has further released a total of 11 software updates between the release of PS4 firmware 1.01 and the latest 6.00.

The best-selling PS4 games have been Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: WW II, FIFA 17, FIFA 18, and GTA V. These are in alphabetical order as Sony has not shared exact figures. Same goes for the most popular titles which include Call of Duty: Black Ops, FIFA 17, FIFA 18, Fortnite, and GTA V. Lastly, the most downloaded games among PlayStation Plus members include Call of Duty: Black Ops, Destiny 2, Dead of Daylight, Just Cause 3, and Mafia II.

During all these years, we have seen Sony releasing different PlayStation 4 bundles and among them, the recently unveiled PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition has been listed as the rarest PS4 model. This makes sense as it was manufactured only in preset limited quantities.

To wrap up, Sony has announced a new bundle called PlayStation 4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 PS4 bundle. It is a 1TB PS4 model where the buyers will get a physical disc of the game. It will go on sale starting November 27th at a price of $299.99 (USD) or $379.99 (Canadian Dollars).
