Microsoft's E3 2019 keynote was full of announcements including Project Scarlett details, second-gen Xbox Elite wireless controller, and xCloud cloud gaming service. But this is not it as Microsoft went on to announce Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for PC gaming subscriptions.
Starting with the Xbox Game Pass for PC, it is similar to the original Xbox Game Pass subscription but is aimed at PC gamers. It has currently been announced in beta stage for the introductory pricing of $4.99 per month. It will cost $9.99 per month post-beta which is also the fee for game pass meant for console gamers. It will be offering over 100 PC gaming titles at the time of full launch but in beta stage, there are about 10 titles available in the library. Two of the biggest titles that will be coming to the PC subscription are Gears 5 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
The subscription will allow PC gamers to download and play all the games available in the gallery for a discounted and fixed monthly fee. It will help them save money as there will not be any need of buying each and every title separately which can prove to be costly if you play a lot of games. The games will be available online and offline depending on the particular gameplay mode.
As for the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, it is a one-stop solution for those gamers who play console as well as PC games. It means this single subscription will offer access to Xbox Game Pass for console games, Xbox Game Pass for PC games, and Xbox Live Gold for online multiplayer. It has been priced at $14.99 per month which is significantly cheaper than the combined cost of $29.97 per month for all the three memberships if taken separately.
The Ultimate subscription was released in beta earlier this year but now, it has been made available for everyone. There is a special offer where users can subscribe for only $1 for the first month. For those who still have months left on their existing Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Live Gold memberships, the team will offer equivalent credit for the remaining period of time if they choose to upgrade to the Ultimate membership. All Ultimate buyers will also get access to Gears 5 Ultimate Edition, the Ultimate Edition Character Pack, 30 Days of Boost, and early access to the game (four days ahead of the global launch).
