Earlier this year, we reported on Second Life's creator Linden Labs's return to the business with a new virtual reality based game named Sansar. At that time, it was available in a closed beta to a few selected users. But from now onwards, Sansar has been made available as a public beta for anyone to download and try.
Sansar currently has about 1700 virtual reality experiences that can be explored by users along with the ability to create their own. It means with public beta now available, one can expect these numbers to go up as more and more users will engage with the game. While it is planned to be an amazing game with a lot of virtual assets for users to explore, the public beta is just a simple version with basic functionalities on offer.
As of now, it only allows users to create avatars and choose different outfits for them. You can even buy outfits created by others but for that, you will need to have the virtual currency called Sansar Dollars. It further allows different users to interact with each other and have conversations. But with time, you can expect to get more complex feature offerings like driving vehicles.
Linden Labs has monetized Sansar by following the freemium model like the Second Life. It means while the game will essentially be free for everyone to download and play, there will be various paid upgrades to enhance the user experience and get access to more features. The free plan will allow users to own up to three virtual lots known as "Experiences" in the game.
But if you would like to upgrade, you will have three tiers to choose from. The first tier is named as Creator which will allow you to create up to five "Experiences" along with 48 hours of customer support window. The next one is Super Creator tier where you will be able to create up to 10 "Experience" and receive 24 hours of customer support window. And at last, you will get up to 20 "Experiences" and one business day customer support window for paying $99.99 per month.
