Casio has officially announced a new WSD-F20SC smartwatch running Wear OS by Google. This new offering is basically a special edition variant of the PRO TREK Smart WSD-F20 smartwatch which was released last year. Only 700 units of the same will be made available for purchase which is most likely to remain restricted to Japan.
The new Casio WSD-F20C smartwatch is quite similar to the standard variant with major changes in the materials that have been used. It boasts an all-new Field Composite Band bracelet which was not present with the previous release. It has a Black dial with sapphire crystal glass and Gold-colored screws. Since the smartwatch is aimed at those who prefer outdoor activities like trekking a lot, it is also MIL-STD-810G standard compliant and water-resistant up to 5 ATM.
It sports a 1.32-inch (320 x 300 pixels) "dual layer" display with color TFT and monochrome LCD panel. It features support for WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity along with native GPS support. It means it can track your location without having to rely on a paired smartphone. It further comes with all the necessary sensors like gyroscope, compass, accelerometer, and pressure sensor.
Casio has not mentioned the battery capacity specifically but did say that it can last for up to one day during normal use (color display), up to two days for color display with auto off, and about one month during clock only mode. In terms of charging, it is said to take about 2 hours to get it charged completely.
The Casio WSD-F20SC special edition smartwatch will go on sale starting June. It has been priced at 108,000 Yen (about $1029) but since there are only 700 units, you will need to act fast if you want to grab one.
