Here is how to customize Google feed on Android and make it useful for you

30 April 2018 2

We know that Google is smart and knows a lot about its regular users' needs and preferences, especially the ones on Android devices. This is the reason it introduced a revamped Google feed last year which was aimed at helping users stay updated about things they care about and save some time while doing so. It basically shows the latest news related to the topics and things you are interested in without you having to look for them manually.

While Google feed usually works good for the most part, it can also be quite off from your preference at times. It is simply because it is making a guess by analyzing your usage pattern to find out things you like. This is the reason you might end up seeing some topic in your feed even if you searched for it for any reason other than you actually like it. So if you are wondering how you can customize Google feed to make it show more relevant content and become more useful to you, this is the tutorial for you.

To get started, launch the Google app on your Android device. From the home screen, tap the three-line icon in the extreme right corner and select Customize option.

Alternatively, you can swipe right to access the Google feed panel. Once you see the panel, tap the three dot icon at the top right corner and tap on the Customize feed option. It should be noted that this method might not work on every Android device and launcher. In case if it does not work for you, simply follow the above mentioned Google app method.

Once you will reach the Customize feed interface, you will see options for manually adding topics that you like and to remove any of the topics that have already been added to the feed.

In order to add new topics, tap the Follow topics option. This will show you a list of different topic categories like Sports, TV, Movies, Musicians, Athletes, News & Politics, Technology, Business, and Lifestyle.

Tapping on any of the categories will show you some of the popular suggestions in your area. It means if you will tap the Actors category, it will show you a list popular actors in your area to help you follow them faster. You can also choose to scroll to see the complete list or simply tap the search bar icon to manually search for your preference. Once you find what you are looking for, tap on the name to start following them.

Once you have followed all the topics of your interest, you can choose to go back to follow topics from other categories. When you are happy with all the preferences set by you, tap the Done option to save the list and that's it. This way, you can customize your Google feed on Android device with ease and anytime you want.
