Harman Kardon is all set to announce a new speaker powered by Google Assistant at IFA 2018 in Berlin. It is said to be named Citation 500 and will be one of the expensive smart speakers out there. The report suggests that it is expected to command a price tag of $700 which makes it twice as costly as Apple's HomePod.
The design of the Harman Kardon Citation 500 is similar to other traditional speakers with nothing unique or weird. It has a small full-color LCD display on the top which will show currently playing song details and options to control the music playback. It might also show other relevant details like weather and message previews but it is not confirmed yet.
It is further reported to be a stereo speaker with 200W overall system power. It will be capable of high-quality audio streaming at 24bits/96Khz which is something audiophiles will surely appreciate. Apart from the great sound quality, it will perform like any other Google Assistant-powered smart speaker including Google Home. It means one will be able to interact with Assistant and get things done by simply using voice commands.
All other features and details will become public once Harman Kardon makes it official at IFA 2018 this week. It is true that the price tag of $700 makes it a premium offering but it can be seen as relatively affordable if you consider B&O Beosound 1 and Beosound 2 speakers priced at around $2000 each.
