Lenovo launches a Google Assistant-powered alarm clock, because why not!

10 January 2019 4

Google made several announcements around its voice assistant, Google Assistant. While there are some new hardware with Google Assistant support, there are a few Google services as well that have gained this virtual assistant support. In the slew of some new products coming with this support, there’s also an alarm clock from Lenovo.

This tiny alarm clock from Lenovo doubles as a smart speaker as well. It’s worth noting at this time that Lenovo brought a smart display back in 2018 at the CES event for you to conduct several things through it. And, now this adorable alarm clock is making an addition to some Google Assistant-powered devices clearly.

Lenovo alarm clock has a smart display with a 4-inch touchscreen and fabric cover. Well, it has obviously been designed to offer you what its job is but it offers much more beyond this. Doing also the duty of a smart speaker, it can play some relaxing sounds or music for you to help you fall asleep. You can also set this up with Google Assistant Routine for sleeping and waking up so that the connected devices go on silent mode with your single voice command.

The Lenovo smart Alarm Clock also offers you customizable clock faces so that you could set it according to your mood. It also comes with a mute switch to turn off the mic and there’s a USB port you can use to charge other devices, like your phone.

The Smart Clock by Lenovo features a 6W speaker and you can say it a good alternative to Google’s own offering which is the Google Home speaker but it doesn’t have a screen. The price of the Lenovo Smart Clock is $80.

Clearly, Google is frequently putting its voice assistant into many use cases and one can expect its presence in more and more products in near future. The company faces a direct competition from Amazon who has made Alexa open quite early and we can see it enabled even in the mundane of products.
