Google Hangouts inch towards death as it's not available on Wear OS anymore

06 March 2019 3

Google Hangout app that was once one of the most exciting video chat services from Google seems to be slowly dying off a major chunk of its users seems to be transitioning away from the service. Beside Google’s effort to roll in interesting features like AI-based smart reply, the app seems to be failing at attracting the masses in a time when we are overloaded with apps offering video chatting functionality.

A major blow to the app is here with its unavailability on the Android Wear platform where you’d find that it says how the app is incompatible with your wear OS powered smartwatch. As an alternative solution, Google is switching Hangout users to discrete services like Hangout Chat or Hangout Meet so chances are that these apps might be seen on the Android Wear platform soon to fill up that gap.

Though for now, Hangout users are yet out of a solution for their wear OS smartwatch. How frequently did you use Hangouts for your video chat needs? Share your views in the comment section below.
