YouTube is undoubtedly the biggest video sharing platform on the planet which means at times, it can get a little tricky to find particular videos. This is where video search filters come into the picture as they allow users to refine their search queries for more specific results. But for the past few days, they were not working on the web as well as smartphones. If you have been worried because of the situation, there is good news as Google has finally made them work.
In a thread on the official YouTube Help forum, one of the employees explained the situation and reason behind it. He said that YouTube was fully aware of YouTube search filters not working as they should have been. It was a deliberate move from the company to suspend the working of filters. It is said to be "a part of our efforts to better respond, review and remove graphic, violative content from YouTube."
It seems like whatever the team was doing while suspending filters has been completed successfully. YouTube has now resumed search filters functionality. It means they can now be used for finding your favorite videos with ease. Previously, it was showing standard search results despite applying any of the filters.
The search filters have started to work on both the web and smartphones. All you need to do is to perform a search and apply search filters as you have been doing until now. The whole process remains the same.
