YouTube Music has released a new update which brings support for native local music playback. It means the app can now be used for playing locally saved music and audio files. The new feature is aimed at making YouTube Music the complete replacement for Google Play Music application.
With this update, YouTube Music has a new update with a new section called Device Files. This is the section which will show the list of all locally stored audio and music files. While the app has been supporting local music playback since last month, the app is now capable of playing music directly from the app.
It is worth noting that even though you can play local music files, you cannot add them to existing YouTube Music playlists and queues. This is something many would not appreciate as people prefer to listen to a mix of both local as well as online music tracks.
The new version is available for download via the Play Store. If you already have YouTube Music installed, do visit the store to look for any new update.
