We know that it has become a common affair for leaks to surface ahead of new product announcements but when it comes to Google's Pixel lineup, this phenomenon reaches to another level. In the past, we have seen all Pixel-related details becoming public way before the launch event and the same is happening with the Pixel 4 lineup too.
Last week, a couple of Pixel 4 hands-on videos surfaced online offering a look at the device's appearance in reality. These videos do not reveal anything new but corroborate what we have already heard or read in leaks and rumors. One can easily notice the big bezels on the Pixel 4 which is exactly opposite of what we are seeing from other Android OEMs. The back panel has a square-shaped quad-camera module which looks odd. The Black Pixel 4 has a White power button and the White Pixel 4 has an Orange power button which is in line with previous leaks. And as rumored and expected, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack either.
Even though Pixel phones are known for offering top of the line features, it is the camera department where they are significantly better than most of the competition. A recent 9to5Google report revealed that Motion Mode will be one of the major Pixel 4 camera features. It will help users click action and sports shots where a moving subject is clearly visible in the foreground and everything in the background is blurred. The team has further made improvements to Night Sight which is already regarded as one of the best night modes available on smartphones.
A separate XDA report has also thrown some light on new camera features that are likely to become available with the Pixel 4 lineup. One such feature is Audio Zoom which will adjust the audio focus depending on whether you are zooming in or out. This is similar to what we saw with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series. Another new feature is said to be Live HDR that is expected to be capable of adjusting different photo aspects like contrast and brightness automatically for an improved result. The unique thing about this functionality is that it will work in real-time and will make changes right when you will be looking through the camera app's viewfinder. In other words, it will work even before clicking the photo which will definitely be cool and a lot more useful.
The team is further said to offer wide-angle selfie improvements on the Pixel 4. These improvements will ensure that both the subject and the background maintain a proper proportion. In currently available wide-angle selfie modes, people usually end up with either one of the two things getting distorted which ruins the whole photo.
Google is also known for releasing new Assistant features with Pixel phones which are usually expanded to other phones gradually. It announced Duplex last year and this time around, it is reported to bring a feature that will allow Assistant to take the call while it is on hold. It will allow users to do other tasks instead of just waiting and listening to hold music. Once the Assistant will identify that there is a human on the other side of the call, it will alert the user that call hold is now over.
Lastly, a new Pixel 4 color variant has surfaced in a new leaked image. It shows the upcoming flagship in Coral color which is in addition to the already reported Black and White color options. It is hard to say if there are only these three options there are some more.
