Google Home smart speakers are pretty smart as they are capable of doing a lot of things and helping their users save a lot of time. And now, they have become a tad bit smarter as they have received a new capability of making phone calls. Google Home smart speakers can now make phone calls for Australian users.
This new functionality has been released by Australian telecom company Telstra. It means you will need to be a Telstra customer if you wish to make calls using your Google Home speaker. The service supports voice-based calling which will be similar to how you usually talk through mobile phones.
A user can choose to link up to six Telstra numbers for getting started with the feature. Once the numbers have been added, you can also select syncing all the contacts with Google Home. This way, you will be able to make use of voice commands for making calls without even interacting with the device physically.
Google Home voice calling also supports Voice Match functionality which will be helpful for those adding multiple numbers. Google Assistant will recognize the speaker's voice to use the correct contact book and make a call to the correct person. This will be helpful when more than one people have different contacts saved with the same name.
