We first heard about the Google Pixelbook Go last month in a report that revealed a lot about the upcoming notebook. The folks over at 9to5Google have now got their hands on a Pixelbook Go prototype through one of their reliable sources. It means we now know almost everything there is to know about the notebook that will be made official next week.
Starting with the design, the Pixelbook Go looks like any other notebook until you turn it around to have a look at the back. Google has made use of a rigged and textured case on the backside. This gives it a unique look and should also offer a better grip when carrying the notebook around but as far as its durability is concerned, it will undoubtedly be worth checking out.
The prototype shown in the leak is in light pink color like Pixel 3's Not Pink color variant. The lid has a smooth and matte finish with a coating similar to the Pixel 2 series smartphones. The lid is shown with a placeholder logo which will be replaced by Google's "G" logo once the notebook becomes official. The keyboard design is similar to previous Pixelbook models including the dedicated Google Assistant button. The trackpad is also a traditional one with nothing different to talk about.
In terms of connectivity options, it has two USB Type-C ports and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. There is also an LED to show the charging status with a quick glance. The dual speaker system on the Pixelbook Go is said to be louder and better than a 2016 MacBook which suggests a better audio output.
The Pixelbook Go is said to offer a 13.3-inch touchscreen display with Full HD and 4K "Molecular" resolution options. It will have Intel Core m4, Core i5, and Core i7 processors coupled with 8GB/16GB RAM and 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB onboard storage options. It means depending on one's needs and budget, buyers will have various configurations to choose from. As we said in the beginning, it will be launched alongside the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones next week. Google is expected to make a few other hardware announcements as well.
