Google Duo updated with expiring text, doodles called Notes

28 January 2020 0

Google Duo is essentially a video calling app but it also allows users to send short audio or video messages quickly. The latter is a feature appreciated by many users as it helps them send a quick message to loved ones with ease but what if you want to do so but is at a place or in a situation where you can't shoot a video? Google seems to have received the feedback and as a result, it has updated the Duo app with a new feature called Notes.

Duo Notes are meant to serve the exact purpose as video messages but without the need for recording one. It makes it possible for users to send messages in the traditional text form or as doodles. The feature is available next to the Video message recording option which makes it easy to access.

It features a bunch of customization options so that users can add a unique touch to their messages. It offers six font styles, font size options, and various background colors. If you want to doodle, then you can pick from different brush color options and three brush strokes. Here is an example of what your messages may look like.

All messages or doodles sent via Google Duo will be available for a period of 24 hours. They will get deleted automatically once the time limit is reached just as it happens with audio/video messages. Google seems to have applied a time limit to ensure that Duo keeps on being a video calling app and does not transform into an instant messenger.
