Pixel 7 selfie camera to support 4K video recording

01 July 2022 1

Google is set to release the Pixel 7 series this fall but an exact date is yet to be confirmed. It will have two models named Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro which will succeed Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro respectively. It was about a couple of months ago when Google previewed the upcoming smartphones alongside a few other products but various reports have revealed different aspects of the phones.

A fresh 9to5Google report has suggested that Pixel 7 front camera will have 4K video recording support. It is based on the APK teardown of the Google Camera v8.5 application. It is expected to be true for both Pixel 7 series smartphones. The finding is based on the references within the source code of the app. The reference is "p21_front_setup" which was previously set for the Pixel 6 Pro.

However, the technical specifications of camera sensors are already unknown. The current-gen Pixel 6 smartphones have an 11.1-megapixel sensor on the front. There is a possibility that we may see the same camera sensor but nothing is confirmed yet. We can expect these details in future leaks and reports but we will have to wait for now.

The report further adds that Google's upcoming Pixel Tablet will have a single rear camera. It says that the tablet will not have 4K video recording on the front camera. This will be the company's first Android tablet release in a very long time. It is expected to boot Android 12L out of the box. It is a tweaked Android version meant specifically for large screen devices.
