Gmail commands more than one billion monthly active users

02 February 2016 0

During the earnings call, Google spoke a thing or two about their popular mailing service, Gmail. The app has in excess of a billion monthly active users. This has gone up from the earlier 900 million, which Google had announced in the I/O developer conference in May 2015. As compared to 2012, the figure has gone up from a comparatively lower number standing at 412 million monthly users.

With the entry of Gmail in the billion user mark, it becomes the sixth Google product to join the billion-mark. The other five apps are, Google Search, Google Chrome, Android Maps, YouTube and finally the Google Play. All these apps are used by more than one billion users per month.

When the last time Google came up with restructured numbers, Google said there are now 75% of its users who access the accounts via their mobile handsets. However, now Google hasn’t updated the number figure, though it may not have changed too much, we suppose.

With an app like Inbox, Google, some days ago had launched a fresh mail experience to bring to its users apart from Gmail. However, this still goes through the experimental stage. That may not drive lots of first time users to Gmail, but the company’s platform for playing around with today’s email client may seem like it.
