Check out Google Photos' new tool that automatically removes unwanted objects

17 May 2017 3

Google Photos has got a new feature which lets users remove unwanted objects from photos. This was announced at Google’s 2017 I/O keynote. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said during the opening keynote.

“We can remove the hard work, remove the obstruction, and have the picture of what matters to you, in front of you”

The company demoed the feature by providing an example of a child playing baseball with a chain link fence coming in front of the child while taking photo. The Google’s new feature helped remove the chain link fence obstructing the view of the child while leaving him unaltered. The blank spaces were then filled with clues from objects surrounding them. Check it out yourself.

The feature has been quite popular with commercial applications such as Photoshop which have some intelligent eraser tools that remove objects by blending in nearby colors. But so far the feature lacked in free mobile apps like Google Photos.

Google stated that this new object removal feature would be coming soon but no date has been provided as of now.
