Huawei has now launched an AMD edition of its MateBook 13 notebook. It comes powered by the Ryzen 5 3500U processor and Radeon Vega 8 graphics. It features the company’s signature design which is 2K FullView display and has an 88 percent screen-to-body ratio. The system configuration also includes dual-channel DDR4 RAM and a PCIe SSD memory.
The Huawei MateBook 13 features a 13-inch display with 2160x1440 pixels resolution at 20 0 PPI with a contrast ratio of 1000:1. It has Dolby Atmos immersive audio speakers as well.
Just like the Intel-powered Huawei MateBook 13, the AMD Edition also features sharkfin tech for cooling. The company touts that this cooling tech offers high-performance fans but at low-noise. The AMD Ryzen powered Huawei MateBook 13 does not look different to the Intel-powered one that was launched back at CES 2019. The new edition retains the traditional backlit keyboard. Similar to the Intel-powered edition, the AMD one has two USB Type-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
It is unknown if Huawei has bundled $70 MateBook Dock 2 like it did with the Intel Core i5-8265U CPU powered laptop. The accessory unlocks other connectivity peripherals, including USB Type-A, HDMI, Ethernet, and VGA ports.
The price of the Huawei MateBook 13 AMD Edition is £699 (approx. $874) for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage options. The second storage configuration, which comes in 8GB RAM and 512GB storage costs £749 (approx. $937). It is available for purchase from Huawei Store and selected retailers.
