MediaTek has announced its newest 5G smartphone – Dimensity 1000C and the first phone adopting this. MediaTek announced that the LG Velvet on T-Mobile is going to be powered by its latest processor and offer faster 5G connectivity and deliver advanced AI capability. MediaTek says the new SoC has been developed and tailored especially for the US market.
At the same time, T-Mobile carrier in the US announced that LG Velvet is going to be T-Mobile exclusive, meaning T-Mobile is the only carrier from where the users in the US can get the latest smartphone.
Talking first about the Dimensity 1000C, it is based on a 7nm process and features four ARM-Cortex-A77 CPU cores and 4 power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores operating up to 2GHz. It supports Mali-G57 and up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.
MediaTek says that the AI processing unit (APU 3.0) combines three different types of AI processors. Also, it is equipped with an advanced AI face detection hardware engine. The Dimensity 1000C enables AV1 HDR on Netflix, AVI video streaming on YouTube. Furthermore, it is touted as the first SoC with dual integrated Voice Wakeup function.
T-Mobile has also shared an unboxing video in which Des, the company’s Product and Unboxing guy can be seen “uncovering the mysteries of the LG Velvet” in a fun way.
LG Velvet comes with its Dual Screen accessory case that makes it a dual-screen phone. It features a 6.8-inch FHD+ display and packs a 4,000mAh battery. It comes with triple rear cameras, where the 48MP is the primary one, 8MP secondary, and a 5MP tertiary sensor. On the front, the LG Velvet holds a 16MP front-facing camera. It has IP68 and MIL-STD 810G certified.
The LG Velvet is priced at $588 and available in Aurora Gray and Pink White color options starting September 10. Customers can get T-Mobile LG Velvet for $24.50 per month for 24 months with zero money down. Also, LG will offer new and existing customers, and small businesses with up to 12 lines, can get the LG VELVET for up to HALF OFF with 24 monthly bill credits when they trade-in an eligible device or add a new line.
