MediaTek has announced a 5G chipset named Dimensity 700 for budget smartphones. It is the company's newest chipset aimed at bringing 5G connectivity to the masses by expanding the support to devices that are easier on pockets. This is very similar to the Dimensity 720 processor revealed about four months ago.
The Dimensity 700 is an octa-core processor built on the 7nm manufacturing process. It features two ARM Cortex-A76 "Big" cores clocked at 2.2GHz that will be handling all the heavy tasks. It supports 5G Carrier Aggregation (2CC 5G-CA) that will result in faster average 5G speeds. It further offers dual-SIM dual-standby (DSDS) support and 5G-exclusive Voice over New Radio (VoNR).
The processor is compatible with up to Full HD+ display panels with up to 90Hz refresh rate. The camera department features support for up to 64-megapixel single shooter with features like AI-bokeh, AI-color, and AI-beauty. The team has even added compatibility with multiple voice assistants like the ones from Google, Amazon, Tencent, and Baidu.
Other than this, MediaTek also unveiled MT8192 and MT8195 processors for Chromebooks. The first one is meant for mainstream Chromebook options and the second one is aimed at premium models. The MT8192 is an octa-core chipset built on the 7nm manufacturing process. It includes four Cortex-A76 cores which are now two generations old. It has a Mali-G57 GPU and can support up to Quad HD display at 60Hz and Full HD display at 120Hz.
The MT8195 is also an octa-core processor but built on the newer 6nm process. It features four Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 power efficiency cores. It further has a Mali-G57 GPU which is a Penta-core graphics card. It is compatible with 7.1 surround sound, Dolby Vision, and AV1 decoding.
