Update: December 23, 2020
An early leak offered us the first look at the Galaxy Chromebook 2 and now a new leak is following that reveals key specifications of the laptop. The leakster @_h0x0d_ on Twitter has shared an image that looks like a leaked presentation slide. The image features the Chromebook 2 in Fiesta Red color and some key specifications. As per the leaked image, the Chromebook 2 is sadly rocking the 10th-gen Intel Core i3 processor and not the 11th-gen Intel SoC that you all expected it might come with.
Another important takeaway here is the battery life that is rated to deliver 12+ hours of battery life. This is better than its predecessor. If the leaked image is true enough, we are going to get at least one thing right from Samsung this time.
Furthermore, the leaked specs reveal the Chromebook 2 is going to feature a QLED display, compared to OLED display available on its successor.
The leaked image also shows the Chromebook 2 weighs 1.2Kg and has a slim profile. Also, the phone supports Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and has "premium sound" quality. It is suspected Samsung still used the 10th-gen Intel processor to keep the pricing reasonable. According to the leakster, Samsung Chromebook 2 could be priced at $699. However, there must be more variants rocking more features and an expensive tag. The leaked slide also reveals the Chromebook 2 will be available in February 2021 from Best Buy and Samsung.com.

Samsung is said to be prepping its next Chromebook in the premium segment. According to the trusted leakster Evan Blass, this is going to be the Galaxy Chromebook 2, the successor to the Galaxy Chromebook.
A few weeks back, the leakster informed Samsung’s upcoming Chrome OS-powered laptop is in the works, confirming the “Chromebook 2” moniker as well. Now, he has shared the first-ever look alongside some additional details of the same.
As per the images provided on Voice.com by Blass, the Chromebook 2 looks very similar in appearance to the original Chromebook, in fact, the color options look the same – Fiesta Red and Mercury Gray. However, there are a few minor adjustments. One is the arrangement of the ports and the other visible change is that the sides are now following the same color as the rest of the body.
The Galaxy Chromebook 2 follows the 2-in-1 convertible profile. It appears to feature a full-sized keyboard, a webcam, a full-sized keyboard, an S Pen, two USB Type-C ports, a headphone jack, a microSD card slot, and a volume rocker.
These are the only changes that we are able to glean from the images provided. The rest of the details on the Galaxy Chromebook 2 are still unknown. But we can expect some worthy upgrades, including the new 11th-gen Intel Core chips. Samsung already uses 11th-gen Intel SoCs in its Windows-10 powered laptops, so the newest chip in its upcoming Chrome OS-powered doesn’t look implausible.
We believe Samsung has also worked upon improving some major aspects that are expected from a 2021 laptop, including improved battery life.
The original Galaxy Chromebook went official in January this year, so we think its successor will launch during the same timeframe next year.
