Acer has introduced four new Chromebooks, including an industry’s first 17-inch model. The other three Chromebooks are Spin 713 (CP713-3W), Chromebook 514, and Chromebook 314.
The New Acer Chromebook 317 has a 17.3-inch display with thin bezels. Acer didn’t mention how it wants this laptop to be used but we guess it is catering to the needs of those who like to have bigger screens for their work and entertainment. However, it did briefly said that this is the “ideal size for users working and learning from home.” According to Acer, the laptop has features to meet the needs of consumers, students, and business users.
Up until now, we have only seen the 15.6-inch as the largest display size in a Chromebook. This is the first time that a manufacturer has produced a 17.3-inch model.
The Chromebook has an anti-glare coating and is surrounded by narrow bezels. Thanks to the larger display, the Chromebook 317 gets a large touchpad too, and is complemented with an integrated numeric keypad. The backlighting feature is optional but the keyboard gets two full-sized upward-facing speakers.
Under the hood, the Chromebook 317 gets the latest Intel Celeron processor with different configurations to choose from. It provides up to 10 hours of battery life and has two USB 3.2 Type-C ports, one on either side of the Chromebook for fast transfers.
Acer Chromebook Spin 713 and its Enterprise Edition also become the world’s first Chromebooks to have Intel Evo certified badge. This means these Chromebooks fulfill all those factors set by Intel, including more than 9 hours of battery life, fast charging, and more. Both feature a fast-chargeable battery that offers 10 hours of usage and up to four hours on a 30-minute charge.
They are powered by 11th gen Intel Core i7 processors. They feature aluminum chassis and have MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability. The Acer Chromebook Spin 713 has a convertible form factor with a 13.5-inch display with 2256x1504 pixels resolution.
The Acer Chromebook 514 is powered by up to 11 gen Intel core processors. Acer touts the Chromebook is suitable for home and business users. It can deliver up to 10 hours of quick-charging battery. It has dual USB Type-C ports, Thunderbolt 4, a backlit-keyboard, built-in security. It also features military-grade durability. The touchpad is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass.
The Acer Chromebook 314 is designed for students and it has a compact design. Under the hood, it gets the MediaTek MT8183 octa-core processor and the battery is rated to deliver up to 15 hours of usage. It features a 14-inch FHD IPS display with an option for touchscreen.
The Acer Chromebook 317 and the Chromebook Spin 713 will be available in North America and EMEA in June. The 17.3-inch Chromebook 317 price starts at USD 379.99 (EUR 399). The Acer Chromebook Spin 713 is priced at USD 699.99 (EUR 769).
