OnePlus is working on its first-ever mechanical keyboard for quite some time. It is now ready to announce the same on February 7th which is also the OnePlus 11 global launch event. It will officially be called OnePlus Keyboard and is being developed in collaboration with the famous keyboard maker Keychron.
The OnePlus Keyboard is said to come with a double-gasket design. This will reduce noise while typing and ensure "precisely calibrated yet softer actuation paired with a satisfying sound". The whole keyboard will be made of aluminum for a premium and lightweight experience. The keys and switches are said to be co-created by fans.
There are a bunch of customizable features like remappable keys, swappable switches, and RGB color effects. It is even compatible with open-source firmware like QMK and VIA. These are said to provide users with great flexibility over how they want the keyboard to be as per their preferences. It will work with Windows, Mac, and even Linux. All of these are officially teased features but we also have a leaked image.
The leaked OnePlus Keyboard image has been shared by 91Mobiles, an online publication. The image shows the keyboard in white color but with a Yellow-colored Enter key. One unique thing about the keyboard is an additional Red-colored round key in the top right corner. Its functionality is unknown but it could be the power key.
One important thing to note is that even though OnePlus Keyboard will launch in February, its mass production will take place between March and May. It means interested buyers will not be able to purchase the keyboard right after the launch. They will have to wait for a while until it goes on sale.
