At the Cannes Film Festival, HP today announced a new lineup of premium laptops, the most interesting being the Spectre x2, a 2-in-1 aimed to compete against the Surface Pro. The other new products include the HP Envy 13, Envy 17, and the Envy x360 15.
The HP Spectre x2 is a 2.5-pound tablet with a detachable keyboard and a stainless steel kickstand. It has an Ink-certified pressure-sensitive stylus that can be used on a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 3000 x 2000p. The 2-in-1 is powered by the 7th-gen Intel Core i7 processor, which runs alongside the Intel Iris Plus 650 graphics unit that can support two external 4K monitors. The device includes a 360GB M.2 SSD and a battery which can run up to 8 hours. Other features include HP fast charge, Bluetooth 4.2, 2x2 Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, and dual speakers which are “custom-tuned” by Bang and Olufsen. The Spectre x2 will arrive in June and start at a price of $999.99.
The HP Envy 13 is “aimed at reinventing performance and productivity on the go.” It packs a FullHD display, a 128GB SSD, Intel Core i5 CPU, and Intel Iris graphics, all packed in a 2.7-pound package. The laptop will arrive in June with the prices starting at $999.99.
The Envy 17, on the other hand, is a more powerful version with a bigger screen. It packs 16GB of RAM, a Kaby Lake Intel Core i7-7500U processor, a 17.3-inch FHD display, and a Nvidia 940MX graphics unit. Other specs include 1TB HDD, Bang and Olufsen speakers, and a Windows Hello-supported IR camera. The whole package weighs 6.73 pounds and will start at $1,049.99.
Last up is the 15.6-inch convertible, the HP Envy x360. HP says that the convertible has been redesigned to pack the technology and versatility needed to be a laptop or a tablet in any environment. The convertible features a micro-edge display, unibody aluminum chassis, and fluid geared hinge. The device will be powered by the latest Intel Core i5, Core i7, or AMD A9, A12, and FX processors, with the ability to configure up to 16GB of DDR4 memory. The model will be available in June as well, with the prices starting at $899.99
