Redmi also launched the Redmi Smart Display 8 during the same event where it unveiled the Redmi K30 Pro. The smart display from Redmi comes as the latest addition to the company’s smart home devices. Together with it, Xiaomi’s sub-brand also launched a host of other devices, including Redmi Smart TV Max.
The Redmi Smart Display 8 bears similarities to Xiaomi’s XioAI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8. It features an 8-inch display that offers a 178-degree wide-viewing angle which includes a special lamination that claims to reduce reflection and gives you protection from eye-strain.
Just like the older Xiaomi smart speaker, the newly launched device by Redmi supports both voice and gesture controls for accessing music, videos, and alarm clock. It has the third-generation Xiaomi’s Xiao AI assistant support to take your commands and perform specific tasks.
The Redmi Smart Display 8 comes with a built-in HD camera as well for video calling with support for multi-device calls. The smart display also supports popular video platforms in China and has a custom kids mode. It contains kids-focused content and further offers child face recognition.
The built-in Bluetooth gateway allows Bluetooth-enabled devices to connect with one touch. You can control thousands of smart devices using Smart Display 8. You can control several IoT products such as security cameras, other speakers, and more using touch screens, voice commands, or even hand gestures.
The price of the Redmi Smart Display 8 is CNY 349 ($49) and will be available for crowdfunding on Xiaomi's official channels in China from March 27th.
