Google is offering free Nest Mini speakers to its YouTube Premium subscribers in the US. The new offer comes as a part of the same program where Google offered free Home Mini speakers to the Spotify Premium users back in October 2019.
Reportedly, YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium, and Google Play Music subscribers are receiving emails or in-app notifications to apply for free Nest Mini speakers. The emails include promo codes for 100% off a new Nest Mini.
Google clearly mentions that the offer is only available to active paid subscribers of any one of these three services as of May 19, 2020. This means you can’t just sign up for these services today and get your free smart speaker through this program.
Below is the brief of the terms and conditions of this offer, knowing which you can tell if you are eligible to take part in this program.
Still, if you have not received the email or in-app notification of this promotional offer, you can follow this link and check if you are eligible for this offer. It should be noted that if you have taken the advantage of such previous smart speaker promotions then you are not eligible to avail the current option. The Nest Mini will be available on a “first-come, first-served basis” through June 30.
According to voicebot, the offer is only limited to the users as many users of Canada and the UK have confirmed they are not eligible for this offer. Google does not mention any regional restrictions in terms and conditions, so it is possible that it extends the promotion to other regions soon.
Google seems to be doing such programs to expand its market share in the voice assistant market. Voicebot points out that the promotion comes one day after Google Home discontinued. Actually, Google Home is not available on Google’s online store anymore. It is listed as “no longer available” and hence the discontinuation.
If you are eligible then you should hurry as the offer is available on a first-come, first-serve base until June 30.
