HTC U12 Life rumored to be an ODM device with Android Oreo 8.1

15 August 2018 3

The well-known HTC's tipster LlabTooFeR today revealed few key details regarding the next mid-range smartphone U12 Life. According to the tipster, the device will be pre-installed with Android Oreo 8.1 instead of the latest Android Pie. It is pretty much understandable considering the latest Samsung's flagship Galaxy Note 9 is also on the Android Oreo 8.1.

He further stated the U12 Life won't be manufactured by HTC instead it will be an ODM device. This means the device will be manufactured by any other third party manufacturer with HTC'S logo. BlackBerry's smartphones are also manufactured by TCL. Most likely the reason behind not manufacturing smartphones could be recent layoffs.

Just for the sake of reminder, the HTC U11 Life was launched in two variants. One of the variants has custom HTC's ROM whereas the second version was an Android One smartphone. So we can expect U12 Life will have Android One variant this year as well.

Most of the details regarding the U12 Life are still in dark, however, what we heard so far the U12 Life will have a 6.0-inches display with Full HD+ screen resolution. The Qualcomm's Snapdragon 636 SoC will be powering the device with 4GB RAM and 64GB native storage. The rear side will have dual cameras of 16MP+5MP. Up front, the selfie camera will be a 13MP sensor. A 3,600mAh battery cell is expected to power up the U12 Life.

Even if flagships like the HTC U12 Life or the Galaxy Note 9 mentioned don't come pre-installed with 9 Pie, it will be some waiting before they get the upgrades. But they will surely get it.
