As anticipated from last week's launch event poster, HTC has officially launched not one but two new mid-range smartphones. These are HTC U19e and Desire 19+ where the first one is a more premium offering. Interestingly, the second one happens to be the first HTC phone with triple rear cameras despite being the most affordable launch of the day.
The HTC U19e is a smartphone with upper-end mid-range specifications which means it is a mid-range but with powerful enough performance and specs. It sports a 6-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass and HDR10+ certification. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. It is the only configuration option available for the smartphone.
The phone has a 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual rear camera setup with f/1.8 and f/2.6 aperture respectively. There are features like AI scene detection, automatic HDR, Pro manual mode, 4K video recording, and ability to capture photos and video at the same time. It has a 24-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, Beauty mode, 1080p video recording, and automatic HDR. The camera can also be used for face recognition purposes.
The whole package is powered by a 3,930mAh battery with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging support. On the software side of things, it will run HTC Sense based on Android 9 Pie. Other features include USB Type-C port, physical fingerprint scanner, and HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi Ultrasound. The HTC U19e has been priced at TWD 14,900 with sales starting June 12th. There are Extraordinary Purple and Modest Green color variants to choose from.
As mentioned in the beginning, the HTC Desire 19+ is a rather affordable phone with modest specs but the uniqueness of sporting a triple camera setup among HTC devices. This setup features a 13-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. It also has a 16-megapixel front camera for capturing selfies and video calls.
The HTC Desire 19+ offers a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop-styled notch. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 processor with 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB configuration options and microSD card support. It has a 3,850mAh battery to keep the lights on but misses out on fast charging support. The good thing is that HTC has packed it with Android 9 Pie as well as a fingerprint scanner.
If interested, the HTC Desire 19+ with 4GB/64GB option will cost you TWD 9,990 and 6GB/128GB option will cost TWD 10,990. The color options include Blue and White with sales starting sometime next month.
