As Apple announced the iPad 8th Gen and iPad Air last night, Huawei has also taken wraps off its newest 5G-capable Android tablet. It is named MatePad 5G 10.4 and has been announced in China. It is essentially a mid-range tablet aimed at those looking for a 5G tablet in a relatively affordable budget.
The Huawei MatePad 5G 10.4 sports a 10.4-inch IPS LCD display with 2000 x 1200 pixels resolution. The panel further offers 225 ppi pixel density and 85-degree viewing angles along with an anti-fingerprint coating. It is also TÜV Rheinland certified which means the tablet display will emit less Blue-light than other tablets without the certification.
Under the hood, it has the HiSilicon Kirin 820 processor paired with 6GB of RAM. There is only a single storage option i.e. 128GB with microSD card support up to 512GB. The camera department includes an 8-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel front camera. The rear camera has a fixed focus but the selfie camera does offer auto-focus support.
The whole package is powered by a 7,250mAh battery with no words on fast charging. However, it is claimed to last for up to 12.5 hours on a single charge. Other noteworthy features include dual-band WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, noise reduction with four microphones, Huawei Histen 6.1 Sound, and Harman Kardon audio tuning. It will be running EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 out of the box.
Huawei has priced the MatePad 5G 10.4 at CNY 3,199 i.e. about $473. It is available currently only in China with no details on the global expansion yet.
