While Lenovo often waits until CES to refresh its lineup of Think-series PCs, the company has gone ahead and announced a duo of workstation PCs – the ThinkStation P520C and the ThinkStation P520, along with a ThinkPad P52s laptop.
The ThinkPad P520 is a flagship workstation by Lenovo that is meant to deliver top-notch performance by carrying out high-end tasks like 3D animation and visual effects. It runs a Windows 10 Pro, but Lenovo has mentioned that the Ubuntu Linux variant will be available as well.
The P520 is powered by the Intel’s new Xeon W-series processor, allowing up to 18 cores or clock speeds up to 4.5GHz. The workstation supports up to 256GB of DDR4 RAM with eight DIMM slots with a maximum capacity of 32GB. As for graphics, the P520 supports up to 2x NVIDIA Quadro 6000 GPUs that are able to deliver the necessary performance needed for the demanding 3D applications. The P520 can feature up to 8 drives and is equipped with one PCIe x16, one PCIe x8, two PCIe x4, and one PCI expansion slots. It also features eight USB 3.0 ports and a Thunderbolt 3 port. It is also enabled with network connectivity options such as an Intel dual-band wireless AC-8264 and 2T/2R + Bluetooth 4.2.
The ThinkStation P520C is a budget-friendly variant of the P520 and features the same Xeon W-series processor. However, it is equipped with a single NVIDIA Quadro P5000 GPU and can support up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM (four slots that can support up to 32GB each). It includes up to 4 drives and instead of 8 USB 3.0 ports and features 6 USB 3.0 ports.
As per Lenovo, the ThinkPad P52s is the thinnest and lightest workstation manufactured by the company. It comes with either an Intel Core i5 or an i7 (eight-generation) processor running alongside an NVIDIA Quadro P500 graphics card. The laptop can also be configured with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD. The ThinkPad comes in three variants of screen options of 15.6-inches such as a FullHD IPS, a FullHD IPS touchscreen, and a 4K UHD. As for the ports, the ThinkPad is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports, one USB Type-C, one Thunderbolt, one HDMI 1.4, one RJ45 Ethernet and one memory card reader.
All of the above three products will be made available in January 2018. The company hasn’t yet revealed the date of launch or information about the prices of the gadgets.
