LG has finally confirmed that a new smartphone with AI capabilities will be showcased at MWC 2018 event. LG has also confirmed that "the new technology will be featured in the 2018 version of the LG V30." These are the “first of a suite of AI technologies” that will be featured on the V30.
According to LG, it will be the Vision AI that will automatically analyze the objects and recommends the best shooting mode from among eight modes, these include portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset. LG tells that the Vision AI recommends by considering several aspects like an angle of view, color, reflections, backlighting, and saturation levels. For instance, “pointing the camera at a plate of pasta will result in food mode being invoked.”
LG has collaborated with a partner in image recognition to analyze over 100 million images so as to develop the phone’s image recognition algorithm. LG claims that for a more accurate image analysis, over a thousand unique image categories were created.
LG’s Vision AI has one more feature which works similar to Google Lens. With the help of smart image recognition, the tech can advise shopping options. It can automatically scan QR codes, initiate an image search.
LG’s suite of AI technologies also focuses on voice recognition. It will allow the users to run apps and change settings through voice command only. It will work alongside Google Assistant with its 32 more exclusive voice AI commands. LG has also listed all the 32 commands to help its users know what commands to use to open several apps.
Not much is known about this version of LG V30 apart from these AI features. A recent speculation, however, did show a few details of this device.
We will learn more about this new smartphone at the MWC event. So stay tuned.
