Google’s Android Wearable is still lacking a marquee device which can compete with Apple Watch. Huawei Watch was the closest and the best Android Wear toting smartwatch yet. However, like other brands even Huawei has not yet launched a successor since almost one and a half year. The primary reason was that top brands weren’t coming out with new smartwatches and the lack of new and powerful SoCs for wearables.
Now LG seems to be gearing up to launch its first Wear OS watch alongside the much often-leaked LG V40 ThinQ. Dubbed as LG Watch Timepiece, it is said to be a hybrid smartwatch with a mechanical gearbox and new age Android Wear OS, giving the user the best of both the worlds.
As per the reports, the LG Watch Timepiece sports a stainless steel body, comes with IP68 certification, physical watch hands, and precise quartz movements. The watch is said to be capable of offering long battery life and accurate time tracking due to its hybrid build. While operating in Watch mode, it can last up to 100 days with a single charge with the Wear OS almost totally turned off.
The watch may come with a circular 1.2-inch LCD display boasting a resolution of 360*360 pixels and displays different type of watch faces and complications which can be also downloaded from Google Play Store. LG is said to be including a 22mm swappable silicone rubber strap and it comes with a 240 mAh battery.

LG may also launch a slightly larger special-edition LG Watch Timepiece Plus aka LG Watch Timepiece+ which may come with a silicone and a stainless steel strap. The LG Watch Timepiece may feature 4GB of RAM, 768 MB LPDDR3 RAM and an ancient Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 processor, even though a newer Snapdragon 3100 has been announced.
In terms of connectivity, the watch is said to support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 for wireless connectivity and come with a USB Type C 2.0 charging port. It is said to be coming in two color options, New Aurora Black and Cloud Silver with an aim to start retailing by June next year and is expected to be priced around $250.
