LG's much-awaited Android flagship LG V40 ThinQ is finally official. Like the previous V series offerings, LG has focused on offering a premium multimedia experience with improved audio and video features. The biggest attraction of this new flagship is the presence of a five-camera setup where three cameras are available on the back panel and the other two are available on the front.
The triple rear camera setup comprises of a 16-megapixel super wide-angle lens, 12-megapixel standard lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The first one offers a 107-degree field of view with f/1.9 aperture and is the same one which we saw on the LG G7 earlier this year. The second one comes with f/1.5 aperture and 1.4μm pixels which should help in clicking better shots because of the increased pixel size. As for the last one, it has a f/2.4 aperture and is capable of offering up to 2x optical zoom and clicking portrait shots.
There is a new Triple Shot feature which basically clicks the same shot from each of the three lenses and stitches them together. It results in a short video clip which can be shared with anyone using email, instant messengers or social media platforms. On the front panel, the LG V40 ThinQ has an 8-megapixel standard shooter and a 5-megapixel wide-angle shooter. This dual selfie camera setup can also be used for clicking portrait selfies with the option to adjust the background blur using a slider.
Other camera features include AI Composition feature which recommends a different shot depending on the subject and frame as compared to the one clicked by the user. There is AI Auto White Balance (AI AWB) which automatically adjusts the color temperature depending on the surrounding lighting situation. Some of the remaining ones include Cine Shot, 3D Light Effect, Makeup Pro, Custom Backdrop, My Avatar, and AR Emoji.
The LG G7 ThinQ will go on sale starting October 18th in the United States. It has been made available in Blue and Black colors with pricing ranging between $900 and $980. LG is also offering a free 256GB microSD card and a free DJI Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal with every purchase. It will be announcing exact pricing, availability, and offer details for each region as and when it will be made available there.
