The LG V30 has started to receive Android 9.0 Pie software upgrade via over the air. The release is in line with the estimated timeline shared by LG earlier this year. It updated LG V35 to the new software about three months ago and now, it is time for the two-year-old flagship to get a taste of the latest Android version.
The update details were first shared by a Reddit user thefpspower on a subreddit meant for LG V30 users. He posted a screenshot showing the update build number PKQ1.190414.001. It further reveals that the update also brings Android security patch dated July 1st, 2019 which is the latest patch from Google.
The same user later posted a comment to the thread detailing some of the changes he has noticed post update installation. The Always On Display setting is said to have received a new notification light ring. There are some new wallpapers and icons for personalization purposes. The update also adds new notification animations as well as adds smoothness to them.
The LG V30 released in 2017 with Android 7.0 Nougat as the software. It received an upgrade to Android Oreo and now to Android Pie which means it has received its two major Android upgrades. This suggests that LG is unlikely to release Android Q for the flagship which is currently under beta testing.
