It seems like LG is yet to figure out what foldable phone design and mechanism to go with. We have talked about a number of LG patents showing different design approaches and now, it is time for one more. This new patent application was submitted to The Hague International Design System in May 2019 and it was published only last month.
The application was spotted by LetsGoDigital folks who not only shared the corresponding diagrams but also created a render based on the same. It is safe to say LG seems to be taking some inspiration from Huawei Mate X for possible foldable phone design. There are a lot of similarities between the two, no matter you look at the folded or unfolded state.
In the unfolded state, the LG smartphone has a big display that makes it look like a tablet. It has minimum bezels except for the left side where it is relatively bigger. The left sidebar houses a triple camera setup along with an LED flash. The exact technical specifications of these camera sensors are currently unknown.
It is an outward folding smartphone which means the display panel remains exposed even when it is folded. This is similar to what we saw with the Oppo foldable smartphone showcased earlier this year. As far as LG foldable phone is concerned, we are yet to hear any official words about when to expect a release.
