22 March 2018 3

Oppo very silently has unveiled a new smartphone. The company made no prior announcements regarding this device. Surprisingly, there weren’t any leaks surround it as well. OPPO added to its entry-level range lineup by quietly unveiling the Oppo A1. The smartphone has an aspect ratio of 18:9 with a 5.7-inch S-IPS display. Thought an entry-level smartphone, the Oppo AI definitely bears the look for a higher-end smartphone given its aspect ratio and thin bezels.

Coming to the innards of the device, the smartphone is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which has pretty much become a standard nowadays. The device in all likelihood will be powered by a MediaTek chipset instead of a Snapdragon SoC as it helps keep the manufacturing costs low while still allowing for other features like more RAM, storage and even slim bezels. The camera isn’t anything impressive with the Oppo A1 having a 13MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP selfie-shooter.

The smartphone will be powered by a 3180mAh battery and lacks a fingerprint scanner. The device is available three colour variants, including Cherry Red, Dark Blue and Pearly white. The Oppo A1 will hit the shelves in China on the 1st of April for CNY 1399 US$ 220 / €179 approx.).

  • 5.7-inch S-IPS display

  • 4GB RAM
