Oppo’s latest offerings, the OPPO R15 and OPPO R15 Dream Mirror were launched at both online and offline stores yesterday. The company revealed that the sales of its latest device the Oppo R15 set a record by beating sales of the OPPO R11 on the first-day.
The Oppo R15 has a large 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a 19:9 ratio and a 2280 x 1080 pixel resolution. It has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The device has dual real cameras (16MP + 5MP) and a 20MP front camera for clicking selfies. The Oppo R15 runs on Color OS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
Last month, market research company, GFK, had stated in its ‘2017-2018 Annual Report on the China Mobile Phone Market’ that the Chinese smartphone market will enter a vacuum period in 2018 with sales volume seeing a decline.
Over the past few years, the Chinese smartphone market has thrived due to low-cost consumer handsets, as well as easy internet availability. However, there has been stock saturation with fewer people interested in replacing their current smartphones with the new costlier flagship devices.
The report stated that before the 5G commercialization in 2020, the Chinese mobile phone market will enter the vacuum period. In 2018, 449 million units were will be sold predicted a year-over-year decline of 4%.
However, Oppo is continuing to see growth in the market. Analysts believe that the company’s focus on younger customers as well as boutique strategy is driving growth.
