Huawei beats Apple to clinch second spot for most smartphone shipments globally

28 August 2018 2

Huawei has been the top smartphone manufacturer in China and now the tech giant has surpassed the Apple that was once known for the initial innovations that it brought in the smartphone industry. A report earlier indicated a similar statistics that came forward from IDC sharing the smartphone shipments for the Q2 2018 where Huawei had 54.2 million smartphones shipped surpassing 41.3 of Apple.

In the latest happening in this regard, another report by Gartner also suggests a similar outcome. As per this report, Huawei bagged 49.8 million while Apple clinched 44.7 million units shipped. Huawei has also clearly emerged as the leading smartphone brand in the emerging markets like India, where Anshul Gupta from Gartner shared in a statement:

"In [an emerging] market growing at 4 to 5 percent, Huawei saw 38 percent growth,"

A major reason for this was the feature introductions that were specially targeted for such markets in addition to the vigor of its well-established Honor brand. He shared that Huawei had a higher playground in emerging economies where a customer appreciates the feature upgrades that he experiences from a $200 smartphone to $300 smartphone.
