Razer Phone receives software update with July security patch

14 September 2018 0

The Razer Phone, known for its sturdy build quality and gaming performance has left an indelible mark in the history of smartphones. It’s not only it’s hardware which is commendable but also its software support to a certain extent. Most of the Razer team for software development still comprises of the Nexbit manpower. The smartphone launched with Android Nougat and later on received an Oreo 8.1 Preview build. The Razer phone even received a stable Android Oreo 8.1 build and has just received another software update.

So, what’s this new software update about? Well, the so-called Android Oreo MR2 update is mainly geared towards improving stability and increasing performance across the board rather than bringing with it any new features. Apart from general bug fixes, the update also includes the July security patch. It would have really been nice to see the company rolling out the September security patch though. Well, it won’t hurt to upgrade even though the update brings no real visual changes.

The update is currently available via OTA and can be automatically downloaded to your Razer smartphone by checking for software updates under the settings menu. The update is 386.7MB in size so make sure you’re connected over WiFi.
