The launch of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 smartphone will be remembered for more than just its stellar looks and high-end hardware. Well, in an attempt to put the Mi MIX 3 on a pedestal, the CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, mentioned something which has struck quite a controversy. The CEO claimed that the smartphone offers better camera performance than even Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro smartphone. It’s clear that Xiaomi views Huawei as a serious competitor and tried to take a jab at Huawei by making such claims of its Mi MIx 3 at the cost of discrediting the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
This does seem to be an exaggeration considering that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro smartphone tops the DXOMark chart. While the Mi MIX 3 does score well it DXOMark, it still falls behind the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Such a remark is bound to result in a battle of words. Huawei wasn’t going to take this claim lightly and its Consumer Business Group Chief, Richard Yu responded, saying:
Any smartphone maker cannot surpass Huawei’s P20 Pro in a short period of time. Only we can surpass ourselves.
As of now, Huawei’s claims do turn out to be quite right given that its Mate 20 Pro smartphone testifies to it. These are the two major Chinese smartphone manufacturers who have been head to head for quite a while now. Perhaps we’ll be waiting around a while till a smartphone betters the Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s camera performance.
