18 December 2018 5

Amazon India has released some interesting statistics based on the activities of its Prime members in India in 2018. The company has released an infographic which showcases some of the most popular products bought by Amazon Prime members in India this year.

Amazon has revealed that OnePlus 6 was the most popular Prime exclusive smartphone in 2018. Though the company didn’t reveal exact sales figures, OnePlus had earlier reported that has seen sales worth Rs. 100 crores within the first 10 minutes of the OnePlus 6 sale on Amazon India.

Prime customers around the globe ordered over 2 billion products in 2018. Some of the most popular products purchased by Prime members in India were the Amazon Fire TV Stick, Mi 10,000mAh power bank, JBL C100SI earphones, Haier 5.8kg washing machine, and the Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4C Pro.

Amazon Prime Video's most 'binge-watched' original series in 2018 included series like Jack Ryan and Homecoming. The company’s original series ‘The Marvellous Mrs Maisel’ won 8 Emmys, two Golden Globes, and two critics' choice awards. Its first season of Prime original Inside Edge was nominated for an international Emmy this year. In India, some of the most popular Prime originals were Comicstaan, Mirzapur, and Breathe.

Amazon Music’s 'most streamed' artists in India were Arijit Singh and Imagine Dragons. Ed Shereen’s Shape of You was the most requested song by Amazon Echo users in India.

On Amazon Prime Day, the platform saw over 200 exclusive product launches in 2018. The Redmi Y2 (32GB, Gold) was the top-selling smartphone during this year's sale while Xiaomi's smart LED TVs sold out in just 10 seconds during its festive sales.

"We loved delivering smiles throughout the year, whether through blockbuster Prime originals like Mirzapur, exclusive launches of top products like OnePlus 6, latest songs and specially curated playlists on Prime Music, or through early access to our biggest Diwali sale. We are humbled by the tremendous response from members to their latest benefits- Prime Music and Prime Reading, and really believe that the simple all-inclusive Prime membership at Rs. 999 a year or Rs. 129 a month is truly the best deal in shopping and entertainment today," said Akshay Sahi, Director, and Head of Prime, Amazon India.
