27 December 2018 4

Amazon has announced that it had a record-breaking holiday season and added "tens of millions" of Amazon Prime subscribers as well as sold millions of Amazon devices worldwide.

The company announced this week that it added “tens of millions” of people who signed up for Prime memberships, and its customers also shopped and ordered more items than ever before, which including “millions more Amazon devices”. On Black Friday the company’s Amazon Echo speakers and Fire TV Stick were the best sellers.

Amazon revealed that top devices sold over the holidays included the Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick 4K and the Echo. Smart home devices also saw record sales with best sellers including Amazon Smart Plug, TP-Link Kasa Smart Plug Mini Outlet, Ring Video Doorbell 2, and the iRobot Roomba 690. The affordably priced Echo Dot has been an Amazon top seller and hefty discounts offered by Amazon also helped in pushing sales. Over Black Friday weekend, Amazon’s Echo Dot became the No. 1 selling product across Amazon.

“This season was our best yet, and we look forward to continuing to bring our customers what they want, in ways most convenient for them in 2019. We are thrilled that in the U.S. alone, more than one billion items shipped for free this holiday with Prime,” said Jeff Wilke, CEO Worldwide Consumer. “Thank you to our employees all around the world who are committed to bringing our customers the widest selection of products with low prices and fast and free delivery options throughout the holidays and all year long.”
