Google Assistant to be available in a billion devices soon

Google’s AI voice Assistant is already available in a number of Android and iOS smartphones, TVs, headphones, tablets, smartwatches, cars, smart displays like the Google Home Hub, globally.

The coming has also expanded the voice assistant to its smart speakers like the Google Home Mini and works with over a 10,000 dishwashers, ovens, light bulbs, and other smart home gadgets across 1,000 brands. Now Google has said announced in a blog post that it expects Google Assistant to be available on 1 billion devices by the end of January. This is immense progress as Google had stated a year ago, that the Assistant had reached 500 million devices and a-100 million Android devices.

The company has said that the number of active Google Assistant users has grown over 4 times in the past year. The Assistant can perform over a million actions, and have conversations in 30 different languages and is currently available in 80 countries. In 2017, the Google Assistant was available in 8 languages and 14 countries.

The Mountain View company hasn’t revealed the number of third-party apps available for Google Assistant. A third-party analysis by Voicebot.ai in January 2018 and stated the number at roughly 1,719, which is an increase of 137% from October 2017.

The company had announced that Google Assistant will be available in John Legend voice earlier this year, however, that’s still to arrive. A company spokesperson stated that the voice’s launch was “delayed,” however, declined to say when it might become available.

In about a year's time the Assistant has reached 80 countries from the 14 earlier and 30 languages from 8. This boost has likely played a major part as the number now stares at a billion.
